Bio
Coach John Gordon has been training athletes and coaching in Georgia for over 15 years. In that time, he has coached football and basketball in Savannah, Warner Robins, Perry, Atlanta, and most recently Augusta. He assisted with county championships at Feagin Mill Middle (Warner Robins) and Pine Hill Middle (Augusta), and also served one year as the Boys Basketball Head Coach at Pine Hill Middle where he lead his team to an 8-3 record finishing third in the county. Coach Gordon most recently served as the Boys Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Westside High School in Augusta for two years, and will be beginning his first year as the Boys Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Peach County High School. The majority of Coach Gordon’s coaching experience comes from youth sports and travel/AAU basketball where he started his own travel team Wartown Warriors f/k/a Middle GA Warriors that was based out of Warner Robins, GA. In 2009,
Coach Gordon coached his team to a YBOA Georgia State Championship, and the YBOA National Championship operating as the Perry Knights. His AAU success in Middle Georgia afforded him and many of his players to gain exposure statewide and nationally, whereby he was offered to coach with both the Nike Basketball travel teams (Georgia Stars & Southern Stampede), and with the Under Armour Association state team (Atlanta Xpress).
Coach Gordon played basketball and graduated from Alfred Ely Beach High School in Savannah, GA. After graduating high school in 1992, he attended Fort Valley State University (then FVSC) where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After College, Coach Gordon worked in the corporate sector, and is now entering his seventh year in the educational field. He taught three years at the elementary level, one year at the middle school level, and is entering his third year at the high school level.
In his leisure time, Coach Gordon loves bass fishing and playing chess. His son (Khamron) is currently playing football at Fort Valley State University, and his daughter (Kennedy) will be entering the ninth grade; both from his late wife (Roshonda).
Coach Gordon considers this basketball coaching position at PCHS a dream job for him given the level of athletic talent in Peach County, and it feels like he is coming home. He is super excited to be a Trojan!!!Peach County High School Names New He...Date and Time
