DESCRIPTION:The Middle Georgia State University Association of Information Technology (AITS) student organization and the Middle Georgia State University College of Computing - Department of Information Technology will join with the local chapter of the International Information System Security Certification Consortium\, Inc (ISC2) to offer the first coffeehouse series lecture at the MGA Warner Robins Campus Walker Auditorium. This live event will be streamed via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday\, February 21 at 5:30 p.m. Dr. John Girard\, Peyton Anderson Endowed Chair and Professor of Information Technology will speak on "Does Knowledge Management Still Matter?" in today's society.\n \n\nJohn P. Girard\, Ph.D.\n\nProfessor\, Middle Georgia State University\n\nJohn P. Girard\, Ph.D. holds the Peyton Anderson Endowed Chair in Information Technology at Middle Georgia State University's School of Computing. He has enjoyed the privilege of speaking to leaders on six continents about technology\, leadership\, and culture. Engaging with students daily ensures he remains current in the ever-changing world in which we live and do business. He has traveled to more than 110 countries investigating globalization and innovation in action. Prior to transitioning to the academy\, John was acting Director of Knowledge Management at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa\, Canada. He served for 24 years in the Canadian Forces\, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. John was awarded Middle Georgia State University's Award for Outstanding Scholarship and Middle Georgia State University's Award for Fulltime Teaching. \n\n\nDoes Knowledge Management Still Matter?\n\nJoin Dr. John Girard for an engaging examination of the question "Does knowledge management still matter?" In this talk John will share some of the history of knowledge management\, what leading practitioners are doing today\, and offer a glimpse of what the future may hold. Using a series of stories of knowledge management in action\, he will challenge the audience to answer the question of how knowledge management should be used in their organizations. The talk will end with a question-and-answer session.
