Don't miss this engaging conversation on Tuesday\, March 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the Walker Auditorium on the MGA Warner Robins Campus.\n\n\n\nCathy Sowa\, CISSP\, connects people and cybersecurity through relationships\; some network switches may be required. After becoming the victim of tax identity theft\, Cathy found her life's mission in the field of cybersecurity. In her role as an acting Chief Information Security Officer at Valdosta State University\, she leads a team that trains individuals in best practices for protecting data privacy\, coordinates security analysis and response\, and performs risk assessments to determine regulatory and industry compliance for systems. Over the last several years\, she has mentored fellow women in cybersecurity through her membership in Women in Cybersecurity.\n\n\n\nCathy has earned an A.A.S. in Network Administration\, a B.S. in Business Education\, a M.S. in College Student Affairs\, and most recently\, a M.S. in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics at Middle Georgia State University. She holds certifications in the areas of networking\, information security\, penetration testing\, and cyber operations. When she's not running towards malware with a cyber "fire extinguisher\," Cathy enjoys running half marathons at Disney World\, testing new penetration testing hardware\, and listening to songs about pirates.
